ELEY BROS LONDON
Early Japanned Eley100 Cap tin box. Circa late1840's. The 100 count tins are for the 1849 Colt Pocket and the 855 Colt Root revolvers. The early cased Colt revolvers occasionally will be found with an Eley Cap Tin without a label. These tins are usually 100 count size, and have Eley London embossed on the lid. Cap tins with paper labels on the lid were not introduced until the mid 1850s. There are however remnants of green paper label "around the edges".Tin contains over 60 original caps. This one is in Excellent + condition!! Very difficult to find in such a conditiion! REF.Rapley BK II CT#1, Jordan p.261/3.
