Very rare clip point Bowie Knife marked on ricasso " F. Herder ASN Solingen with Crossed Keys". (Friedrich Herder Abraham Sohn). Blade is 6 1/4 inch long, overall length 10 1/4 inch. German silver guard with balls,. The handle is made of beautifully curved stag horn with a small silver escutcheon and is complete with its brown leather sheath with German silver tip and mouth plus a belt loop. The blade and the handle is one piece. Blade has a few spots of very light surface pitting. Made around 1900. Friedrich Herder Solingen Germany made Bowie Knifes for the American and European market. The Herder Company exists from 1727 until today. The quality of Herder knifes is often compared with that of the Bowie knifes from Wostenholm and Rodgers. Set in very fine condition! (NOTE!
