WINCHESTER FIRST MODEL 1873 RIFLE

#8585. Caiber 44-40 WCF. Standard 24" Octagonal Barrel. "First Model"! Practically no finish left. Has the first model second type of dust cover with raised fine chequered oval. The loading lever is the early first model. The gun has English proofmarks (Birmingham Black Powder Proofed) on barrel and frame, plus a set of Indian (INDIA) markings (Soundy & Co Bombay, probably the company that imported the gun into India) on the barrel. There is a restoration on top of the stock near the buttplate (see picture). Mechanically perfect and has a near mint bore! The rifle has the original 4 piece cleaning rod in the buttstock! This is a very "rare and scarce" First Model 1873 rifle in a more than very good condition with all its original parts. This is your chance to buy a very early western gun with history! This dates it to early 1875, third year of production of Winchester production making it one of the few 73's that were out in the world prior to the Battle of Little Bighorn in the summer of 1876!!! Cartridges shown for information purposes only.
