WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 MUSKET WITH BAYONET
#369117B. Cal. 44-40 W.C.F. Third model. Standard Round 30" Barrel which retains about 30% of the original blue finish, the balance is a smooth brown patina. The top of the barrel has several brown spots with light pitting, the result of bad storage! Frame has about 60% of original blue. Practically all the colour case is present on hammer. Butstock and fore-end are in sound and very fine condition with some dings and handling marks. Has the original standard military front and rear sight and sling swivels. Including the original angular bayonet in excellent condition. Bore is like new and gun is mechanically perfect. There are 3 letters "L.S.B." stamped on the left side of the buttstock near the buttplate, meaning unknown (initials of a previous ownner?). The total production of the WInchester Model1873 was 720.609. Only 5% or about 36.000 were Muskets!! This one was made in 1891. It is not easy to find a Model 1873 Musket made before 1900! Overall in very fine condition! Has a 5 piece cleaning rod in the buttstock compartiment. Comes with an original bayonet fitting only a cal.44 Winchester Barrel.
