Confederate General Joseph Eggleston Johnston (February 3, 1807 – March 21, 1891) Early war pose of Johnston in the uniform of a Confederate Colonel just as he entered Confederate service. He was an American career army officer, serving with distinction in the United States Army during the Mexican–American War (1846–1848), and Seminole Wars. After Virginia seceded from the Union, he entered the Confederate States Army as one of its most senior general officers. The name is written on front of card but has been misspelt "‘Johnson should be JOHNSTON"! Back of CDV is unmarked, the four corners are cilpped.
