REMINGTON NEW MODEL 1863 ARMY TRANSITIONAL REVOLVER
#192XX Cal. 44 percussion. Standard 8" octagon barrel. Matching serial numbers with number 9272 B on rear face of cylinder. Barrel retains about 90% of original blue, frame 20% (balance probably flaked off, typical Remington!). There is 40% of colour case on hammer. Grips are in fine condition with a military Inspector cartouche "BH" Benjamin Harris. This is an early Transitional model (falls between #10.000 and #22.000), they all have the old style 1861 barrel marking without "New Model", the grip frame is 3/16" reduced and as such have smaller grips than the New Model and are equipped with the mortised cone front sight of the 1861 Model! Has initials EWP twice on bottom of grips, meaning unknown. Inspector initials are present on frame, barrel, cylinder and twice (A) on bottom of grips. Mechanically perfect and has an excellent bore. The gun was made in April 1863! A military Civil War era revolver in a fine + condition!! Total production about 122.000.
