U.S. SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1879 COMBINATION TOOL
The U.S. Model 1879 combination tool was the first regulation non-altered gun tool adopted in the post-Civil War period. It has a swinging arm screwdriver. Incorporartes a mainspring clamp, two screwdrivers and a band spring and tumbler pucnh. It was designed for use on the 45/70 Springfield Rifle and Carbine and fits the tool pocket in the McKeever cartridge boxes. The majority are marked ""U.S. MOD.1879".
