STARR MODEL 1865 CARTRIDGE CARBINE
#33XXX. Cal.52 Rim-Fire (56-56 Spencer). Standard 21" Round Barrel retaining at least 90% of original blue. Frame and hammer have 60% of colour case, with nice traces on the butt plate. Buttstock has some storage and handling marks, with a small chip missing on top. Mechanically perfect plus a near perfect bore. The left side of the barrel and buttstock are marked "S.T.B". Two Ordnance inspection marks are stamped on the left stock wrist. This carbine is one of the 5,002 manufactured under government contract by the Starr Arms Company of Yonkers, New York. The Starr carbines were delivered to the Ordnance Department between March and May 1865. Approximately 1000 in March, 2000 in April and the balance during the last weeks of the Civil War.
