REMINGTON MODEL 1874 CREEDMOOR No.1 LONG RANGE TARGET RIFLE
#60XX. Rifle No.1 Grade A. Caliber 44S (Means Special 44-77 and 44-90 with a 2 1/4"Bottleneck case). 34" part round/part octagonal barrel. Wooden stock (in American wanut) appears to be untouched; complete with shotgun style buttplate, pistol-grip with sharp checkering, correct numbered long range Remington Vernier folding tang sight and a correct hooded wind gauge target style front sight. Mint bore. Manufactured from 1874 to 1886, the great majority was made between 1874 and 1878. General George Armstrong Custer owned Creedmoor Long Range No.1 #3333. Total production fewer than 300 rifles. The No.1 Creedmoor Rifles were Remington's crowning achievement in the Golden Age of long-range target shooting in America, it was one of the finest Remington arms produced. Very possibly the best one I've ever seen; it has virtually all the bright vivid case colors as well as all of the high gloss blue. Absolutely outstanding and in a as-new condition.
