MERWIN & HULBERT MEDIUM FRAME SPUR TRIGGER SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER

#60XX. 5-1/2" Barrel. Cal.38 M&H (S&W CF). Retains 99% of the original nickel finish and case hardening. Has 2 perfect pearl grips of which the left one is showing some brown discoloration. It comes with the "Crescent” grip ( factory name for grip style), also known as" Skull Crusher", which is the rarer style. The square butt was probably 90% of the production. Has the scoop flute cylinder (which is scarce this late in production), a downward sliding loading gate and the covered (enclosed) cylinder pin. All these features classify this revolver as a late third model. It Is mechanically perfect and has a mint bore! The production of the Pocket Model started in 1877, with a total of about 2500 for the 3 Models of Pocket Revolvers. This" outstanding" revolver was probably made around 1880! Not only near mint, but also very "Very Scarce!! Art Phelps (THE Authority on M&H) states in his book; The story of Merwin, Hulbert & Co. Firearms on page 56; "Rare are those late production, single action Pockets having bird-head grips with 5 1/2" barrels: only TWO such specimens are known"!!! Would be extremely difficult to improve in rarity and condition! Cartridges shown for information purposes only.
