COLT MODEL 1848 BABY DRAGOON REVOLVER "WITH RAMMER"
#122XX. Cal.31 Percussion. 6" Octagonal Barrel. Two line New York address with the correct dash style finials. 5 Shot. Gun has about 40% of the original blue finish on barrel and 90% silver on backstrap and triggerguard. Light traces of case hardening on frame and hammer. The Stage Coach cylinder scene is about perfect with the inscription; "Engraved by W.L. Ormsby New york" still legible. Evidence of any of the Ormsby letters are rarely visible as it was engraved in very tiny and shallow letters that wore off very easily. Correct serial number present on all parts, including loading lever, wedge and cylinder pin. All 5 cylinder pins are intact! Has Colt inspector initials "T" and "K" stamped on the triggerguard. The walnut grip is in excellent condition with about 95% of the original varnish remaining. The gun was made in 1849.Only about 1530 Model 1848 Baby Dragoons "with rammer" were manufactured. Comes with its original contemporary "Slim Jim" holster in very fine condition. Baby Dragoons with loading levers are rare and getting exceedingly hard to find especially in this nice a condition. I have never owned a better one! Fine + condition!!! REF. Flayderman 5B-041
