WATERVLIET ARSENAL MODEL 1881 CARTRIDGE BOX
U.S. Model 1881 R.I.A. Mc. Keever Third Type, Caliber 45-70 Indian War Cartridge Box. Has a capacity of 20 cartridges in two rows of 10 rounds each. Standard third type, including brass escutcheon on closing tab, top corner staples and a tool compartment. Cotton loops on a cotton back. Has a regimental unit stamped on the right inside flap "14 B". with two inspector marks "C.H" and "M.C". With a light embossed "US" on the front of the box. Made by Watervliet Arsenal and as such, stamped on the closing tab. Shows use, in fine condition.
